This is a tank used by the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger, abbreviated to ‘KNIL’).
Tow versions of the 4TA were produced; the 4TAC with the turret on the right side of the hull and the 4TAY with the turret on the left. In total, 474 4TAs were made.
The turret was fitted with a .30cal Browning MG38BT machine gun, one or two further machine guns could be fitted in the hull. It had a crew of two, commander and driver.
This is the version with two hull mounted MGs.
CTMS stands for Combat tank medium Series. They also saw service with Australia, Japan and USA.
