October 13th 2024 was the second Partizan Wargame show of the year, the first being in May but I was unable to attend that one.

I do try to go to as many Partizans as I can as it’s my favourite show. I have said this elsewhere and in previous video reports but I always find Partizan to be the friendliest and most engaging show, certainly as a punter. I find that if you show interest in what’s happening on the table, one of the participants will invariably engage you in conversation, explain what’s happening, talk about the history or the rules. I really don’t find this to be the case in London at SELWYG and Salute. I’ve been to both several times and people just aren’t as friendly, that’s my experience anyway, you’re may be different.

I bought a couple of books, one on building terrain and the other was a set of 1/144 WII wargame rules from Anschluss Publishers. The other stuff I got was mainly terrain building accessories; AK diorama products and such like, mainly for my current Black Seas terrain project.

It was nice to bump into a couple of folk I sometimes see at the shows, Alex from Storm of Steel and 5 members of my own club at Lost Ark Games in Stevenage.

I love the variety of different games at Partizan

You are always guaranteed a huge variety of different games at Partizan. I’m really only interested in the historical stuff, I don’t game fantasy or sci-fi, but there are tables for all tastes.

You can find small skirmishes featuring just a few figures. I noticed one game with just two opposing medieval knights on a small table surface no bigger than a chess board. There are games with literally thousands of figures on the table several meters in length.

The figures, terrain and the skill of those producing them always blows me away. I invariably come away with photos of stuff I want to replicate.
